Type designer Tobias Frere-Jones was in Melbourne last month and found this gem, a cafe called Helvetica!

I only wish we could’ve gotten down to Australia to film this. I wonder if these customers have any idea where the cafe’s name comes from? Do they serve a Max Miedinger Mocha there? Or sans-serif sandwiches?
I’ll stop now.

I shot a little more footage of Massimo Vignelli today, we just needed more b-roll of Massimo at work. I showed him some of the rough cut of the movie, and he pronounced it “the best film ever.” So at least I’ve sold one ticket!
Hey there, welcome to my Helvetica blog. Things are starting to move really quickly with the film, and I hope to be able to update this blog daily to keep y’all posted. We’re finalizing dozens of screenings around the world, starting with a World Premiere in March that I’m not allowed to announce yet! (Real dates/cities coming soon… promise.) It’s been a crazy year of filming and editing, but we’re getting very close to final stages of the project, color-correcting the film and doing the final sound mix.
Thanks to everyone who’s been involved in the film so far, and thanks to you for your interest in it.
Cheers,
-Gary
