Full Frame Fotos
I haven’t been able to catch my breath since the awesome Full Frame Documentary Festival screening last Saturday… or from the catastrophic-weather-flight-cancelled road trip that ensued, with me and four other filmmakers caravaning 12 hours in a Chevy mini-van. But I have pictures. Lots of pictures. And you know, they speak a few dozen words or something.

In a nice touch, the festival changed the font they usually set the film names in to, guess what…

Superstar blogger (and occasional filmmaker) AJ Schnack (Kurt Cobain: About a Son) gets grilled by IndiePix.

“Five documentary filmmakers. 1,000 miles. One mini-van. What happens when the people who in reality document reality get a too real for reality?” In the backseat: Jesse Epstein (The Guarantee) and Robin Hessman (Russia’s Pepsi Generation). In the back-backseat: Robin Honan (Freeheld). Photo by Trish Dalton. More pix (and cell-phone movies) from this bunch soon.
Thanks to Nancy, Phoebe, Selcen, and everyone at Full Frame for a great event, and for their grace, talent, and composure. And I meant it when I said that was the best Helvetica has looked at any screening we’ve done so far. Thank you!!!!

I attended the screening of Helvetica last night at Yale. Most excellent. After seeing it I thought some folks might be interested in knowing where to get some of those cool helvetica New York City subway signs shown in the film. My friends at Demolition Depot in Harlem have about 50 of them ranging in price from $75-$250. They are really fun. You can get in touch with them at http://www.demolitiondepot.com.

Gary, your movie is awesome. I don’t know if you remember me but I was the tech manager (Parker) at Full Frame that shot the time lapse of your show and it actually turned out ok. my email should be attached to this comment so let me know if you want to get a copy for the dvd. I hope to hear from you soon.

I saw Helvetica at Full Frame and it was by far my favorite film. I just posted about it. I know it’s kind of late but I was waiting for Full Frame to post the winners. I would have given it an eleven if I could have.
Best of luck with the film. It definitely changed the way I look at type.
-And on a side note, do you know of a reliable site to buy Helvetica? I just can’t look at Arial the same way again.
